Backup Plan Onestep – Levonorgestrel 1.5 mg Emergency Contraceptive Tablet

Backup Plan Onestep™ is a single-dose emergency contraceptive pill containing 1.5 mg levonorgestrel. It helps prevent pregnancy after unprotected sex or contraceptive failure (e.g., condom breakage, missed pill).

For best results, the tablet should be taken as soon as possible—preferably within 12 hours and no later than 72 hours (3 days) after unprotected intercourse. Backup Plan Onestep™ does not terminate an existing pregnancy and should not be used as a regular form of birth control.

Directions for use:

  • Take one tablet immediately preferably within 72 hours (3 days) and preferably within 12 hours, after a contraceptive accident or unprotected sex (sex without birth control).
  • Do not delay starting treatment. Levonorgestrel tablet is more effective the sooner you take the tablet after unprotected intercourse. A Levonorgestrel tablet can be taken with a glass of water.
  • If you vomit within 2 hours of taking a levonorgestrel tablet, call your doctor or pharmacist as you might need another dose.
  • Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed.
