Traditionally, holy basil was used to treat everything from diarrhea, and dysentery, colds, and cardiovascular concerns. This is likely due to Holy basil?s numerous active constituents including tannins, phenolic compounds and flavonoids which are responsible for its anti-microbial, antispasmodic, analgesic, adaptogenic, and cardioprotective activities.
  • Today, holy basil is mainly used as an adaptogen to help increase energy and resistance to stress (in cases of mental and physical fatigue related to stress).
